and you thought creationists had problems

Remember the time when the plague was killing a tenth of your home town, and those dame heretics wouldn't just shut up? No? Well meet a group of people that appear to be still stuck in the "dark ages" * I thought that the fundamentalists or people who believe we live on a back of a turtle had problems.
* as a historian in training, I can't in good conscience call it that, there is nothing "dark" about the time between the Roman Empire and the early Renaissance. But that's another topic ....

The flat-earth theory indeed still exists. We had a rather lengthy discussion on this in my evolution seminar last semester. A true flat-earth theorist not only believes the earth is flat, but also that the earth 6,000 years old and the center of the universe. It is often associated with a creationist view, and the most extreme of beliefs on that end of the spectrum.

Let me now quote one of my favorite parts of the article: "Many use the term 'flat-earther' as a term of abuse, and with connotations that imply blind faith, ignorance or even anti-intellectualism."

Well, no shit, you idiot. Do you realize how stupid you sound?

Goddam flat-earthers.
